Children are like butterflies in the wind: some can fly higher than others, but each one flies the best way it can.
My name is José Mesa, Cuban by birth and proud of my roots! I graduated as a social worker from the Universidad de Oriente in 2006 and later in sociology, in 2014. I’m grateful that Miami opened its arms and welcomed me as one of its own.
I have more than 10 years of experience with children, young people and adults with special educational needs, and for more than 4 years I have focused on children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), mainly in Miami-Dade public schools and in homes. I worked as a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) with the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB) and, after a long period of training and supervision, earned the Board Certified Assistant Behavior Analyst (BCaBA) credential. I completed a master’s degree in Psychological Development in Childhood and Adolescence at the Universidad San Jorge and am preparing for the BCBA exam.
I still have many horizons to explore, because every child is special. Why compare them with one another? Each one is different. Each one is special. Each one is beautiful and unique.
